FBEPS Student Council (FSC) will be organizing another food sale starting tomorrow, Tuesday (26th Jan) - Thursday (28th Jan 2010) at the usual venue: Smallville.

Homemade food such as: Cheesecake, Popia, Begedil, Nasi Katok (and more) will be sold at the booth or rather table =p

UBD will be hosting the event below as one of the projects for SEASREP Foundation and KISEAS (Korean Institute of SouthEast Asian Studies) with FBEPS as the host institution thus one of our lecturers, Noor Amal Hayati asked FSC to find volunteers for;

Event : Korea Forum
Date : 9th February 2010 / Tuesday
Time : 8.00 am
Venue : Chancellor Hall

Basically, these volunteers will be needed for publicity, registration and rapporteuring. A briefing session will be held at a later date. Volunteers will be given certificates of participation. So, please forward this message and spread the words around your friends who would like to volunteers for this event.

FBEPS I vs BMC of ITB

Assalamualaikum all,

Little that we know, FBEPS also sent some representative for the UBD Inter-faculty Basketball tournament, and they are pretty good at it.

In a match taken place last night, at UBD Sports Complex, team FBEPS I have won the match against BMC of ITB, by 45-29..

FBEPS II will take on Easy way around 4.30 pm later.. Come and support of own FBEPS!!

It really encouraging to see our students participating in these kind of events.. Make the faculty proud!!

Dear All Students,

In conjunction with the 21st UBD Convocation, once again the Student Affairs Section is proud to present this year's CONVOCATION FESTIVAL 2009 from 19 OCTOBER - 7 NOVEMBER 2009.

The Official Opening Ceremony will be held at the Chancellor Hall @ 8am on MONDAY, 19 OCT 2009 and will be officiated by Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda (Dr.) Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Menteri Kanan di Jabatan Perdana Menteri, Pro-Chancellor, Universiti Brunei Darussalam will also launch the "UBD Green Project" and the "UBD FM", our very own UBD Radio Station, the first university based radio station in Brunei.

All are welcome to the opening ceremony. Your presence is greatly appreciated.

UBD FM

The UBD FM is headed under ETC and it is the first University-based Radio Station in Brunei Darussalam. Students DJs will be lived on air from 19-22 Oct 2009 at the Foyer of the Chancellor Hall. The Green Project

The “UBD Green Project” is a long term initiatives to make UBD a Green Campus. It is also one of UBD’s approaches to education for sustainability in environmental education. Since the establishment of UBD, there are various initiatives involved in the “Greening” of UBD Campus and focus has now been given to awareness on environmental challenges. The aim of the project is to equip all UBD Communities (staff as well as students) with the knowledge and skills required to live sustainably. Thus, the theme: "UBD CAN! Reduce. Reuse. Recycle" has been chosen to encourage staff as well as students to start recycling the paper, reuse the plastic as well as reduce the waste and energy emission that could exacerbate climate change. To achieve this goal, various projects have been planned in conjunction with the 21st Convocation Festival:

Some of the Students’ initiatives that have been or will be implemented under this project are the “Plant 100 Trees for a Cause” project, “Amazing Race – Go Green!” Competition, “Its Fun to Use Bicycle” Campaign, “Towards Less Plastic Usage Around UBD” Campaign, “Trash into Treasure” Competition & Exhibition, “Poster Competition on “Environmental Sustainability”, Pledge for “UBD Environment Challenge” and Creative Comedy Sketch by Students RAKIS club.

"Plant 100 Trees For a Cause" Project is coordinated by Bazilah & team, MPP student (support from Estate)

This is the first few projects under the "Forest Rehabilitation Project", whereby 100 trees will be planted behind the Estate Buidling, UBD. Already 34 trees have been adopted by students as well staff (including VC himself). A total of $40 fees will be incurred for each tree or alternatively you may want to divide it with 4 person for a tree ($10/person). You will then be able to labeled the tree with your own name. This project will be implemented on WED 28 OCT 2009 (together with the Workshop on Forest Rehabilitation).

"Pledge for UBD Environment Challenge" project is coordinated by Shafiee & team, MPP Student (support from AR FBEPS)

The aim of the project is to find out our commitment to change our lifestyle and our daily habits to help save our environment for the benefits of our future generation. The project's detail can be found at http://ubdenvironmentchallenge.blogspot.com/ (Refer Nur Farazida's email, AR FBEPS)

“Towards Less Plastic Usage Around UBD” Campaign is coordinated by Nur Rahmalini, MPP Students (support from HEP)

This is a project whereby students will educate UBD Canteen Operators, Cash Counter Operator, Restaurant Owner on the importance of using RECYCLING BAG and banning the use of FREE plastic bag. The PMUBD has designed a new and fresh looking recycling bags so that students and staff will start bringing and using this ecofriendly bag. The bag will be sold @ $2/bag. Bag will be available at PMUBD Shop from Monday 12 OCT 2009.

“Its Fun to Use Bicycle” Campaign is coordinated by Nur Fairuz Nazri, the President of MPP (Support from HEP / Lecturers from FOS)

This project will start on WED 14 Oct 2009 whereby students as well as staff will be bicycling around campus to start campaigning on the importance of reducing energy emission from the use of automobiles. The students will also be campaigning on the importance of carpooling amongst students and staff around campus. More similar activities have also been planned for next year, for e.g. Bicycleton Activity.

UBD will also be holding an awareness workshop on Wednesday 28 OCT 2009 @ 130pm at the Senate Room, Chancellor Hall entitled “UBD Green Initiative: Forest Rehabilitation”. Further details will be emailed to you soon.

The Student Affairs Section will also be planning to increase the usage of Recycling bins around Campus. We are trying to work on buying recycling bins for plastic, paper and bottle to be located on each building. This will provide facilities to all students as well staff to start the culture of "recycling, reusing and reducing". More info will be circulated once it will be implemented.

We hoping that all UBD Communities will help us move UBD to a Green Campus that we can all be proud of. Every little contribution you made will make a difference!

On behalf of FSC, I would like congratulate everybody involved in today's Amazing Race.. A job well done!

We would like to welcome the freshies to the faculty.. Thanks for being a good sport.. We hope that you enjoyed the game.. We also wish you all the best, studying in UBD, and have fun in the faculty.. We, your seniors, are here to help.. ;)

Also thank you to the lecturers for the advice and taking care of the protocols..

A special thanks to the volunteers.. You guys are AWESOME!! Some used their creativity to twist the game and made it more fun.. That, I salute!! Actually, you guys are the backbone of the event.. Great job everybody!! *Round of applause!*

Assalamualaikum everybody,
FSC is back!! We hoped that you enjoyed your holidays so far.. We have got so much things in store for you ahead of the new semester..

If you haven't heard, FBEPS is looking for volunteers for the upcoming freshers week.. It seems that we, with the help of the lecturers, are again going to organize an Amazing Race, for the newbies.. The objective of this event to let the new comers of UBD, especially, the FBEPS students, to get use to the environment and their surroundings..

With that being said, we need around 60-70 volunteers, to help out during the event.. The volunteers will be given the task to handle the games and activities planned.. Some will be in charge of the refreshments, i.e. looking after the refreshments..

The event is a one day event, which will be held on, Tuesday, 28th July 2009, 8 am till 12 pm.. Volunteers will be given certificates, as well as refreshments, for their participation..

Briefed instructions will be given ahead of the event, by the lecturers, on Saturday, 25th July 2009, at 2.30 pm.. Venue G.10.. Please do come for that, as the meeting will give you more clearer picture of what are we going to do during the event itself..

We will also be organising a meeting for the FSC, Friday, 24th July 2009, at 10 am, FBEPS G.2, or FSC room.. The agenda for the meeting is for all to contribute ideas for the games and activities, which some have already been done by the lecturers.. Volunteers are too invited to come to the meeting.. Not compulsory though.. :) Together, we can generate fun ideas for the games and activities..

Invitations had been sent out on facebook as well.. So, please do invite your friends to be part of the event.. We hoped that you can help us make the event a successful and a memorable one, not just for newbies, but, for ourselves as well..

Think about it! Just a one day event, you get free foods! certificates! you'll get to know more friends and lecturers, get to know your juniors, and most importantly, you'll have the experience to handle such events..

Referring to the email from Director of APB below, I would like to kindly get your cooperation to inform your students that APB will be organising FORUM KHAS MIB in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee of the National Day of Brunei on TUESDAY 19 MAY 2009 at 715 pm at ICC, Berakas. His Majesty the Sultan will be present during this forum.

As suggested from APB, we will required a total of 200 Students to attend for this prestigious event. Thus, we will need you to identify the following no. of students from your faculty/ Institute:

1) SHBIE = a total of 50 students
2) APB = 30 students
3) IM = 30 students
4) FASS = 30 students
5) FBEPS = 30 students
6) FOS = 30 students

We will distribute the official invitation on thursday onwards, but please remind your students that ATTENDANCE FOR THIS IS COMPULSORY. Bus will be arranged and informed to your AR's in due course. Exam starts tomorrow.. How's the revisions going? hehe.. On behalf of everybody, I want to wish everybody the best of luck for the upcoming exams..

Do not forget to bring the important stuffs such as stationeries, UBD card, IC, clothings, and brain full of knowledge.. hahha.. :p

It is advised for us to arrive 15 minutes earlier before the start of respective exams.. The most important thing to do before the exams, especially for the muslims, is to recite the doa.. Hopefully this could keep us calm when answering the papers.. ;)

Once again, on behalf of the FSC, we like to give a big thanks to the hard working FSC members, kind volunteers, anyone connected to the event and especially to the very determined participants who made this event successful.

if there were any inconvenience, wrongdoings and dissatifaction caused during the event, we humbly ask for your apology. It is our mistakes and we will look into the matter. However, some matters are already being reviewed and hopefully, if there is a next amazing race, there will be less apology needed or non at all =)

Hello peeps, as you can see from the above ad, we are going to celebrate Earthday 2009.. The project is organised by our very own 2nd year Public Policy and Administration mates.. More specifically, SP2221.. The purpose of the project is to create awareness among the pupils on the value of the country's natural resources and the importance of managing it. Other than that, it is aimed to develop an in-depth knowledge through self-learning, develop creativity, and nurture and develop their leadership skills. Activities will be organised to highlight the importance of conserving natural resources.

FBEPS have send out some volunteers to participate in the interfaculty quiz in conjuction to Maulidur Rasul.. Alhamdulillah... They got second place in the competition.. This shows that not only that we excel in the academic and fun stuffs, we also have that religious knowledge..

Tonite is the gathering session for Dean's Cup.. Get to know your teammates and just have fun playing futsal! That will be at 7pm-10pm.. Please do come for the session..

Contact details: home address, professional email address (yahoo or gmail).

Deadline for registration: 30th March 2009, Monday.

Duration of WAP : 10 weeks from 18th May to 25th July 2009

To submit 2 CVs: 1 hardcopy and 1 softcopy (to fbepswap2009@gmail.com), name and registration number. Computer registration (with ICTC) will be carried out before the revision week in April (to be announced).

No list of host agencies is provided but please also indicate any two of your preferred host agencies. However, there is no guarantee that you will be allocated to your preferred host agency. This depends on the availability, quota and the requirements of the host agency itself. Otherwise, the WAP committee will try to allocate you to another 'closely' match' host agency.

If you prefer to do the WAP in your respective district (for example, KB), please indicate this in the CV. This is to assist the WAP committee in considering the logistics issues in allocating the students to the host agencies. Should a student does not mind to be 'attached' in any district (for example someone from KB to work in BSB), please inform so in the CV.

Signing of Contract: In April (tba)

A student is not allowed to withdraw from WAP once the contract has been signed. Should a student failed to report for duty to the host agency on the 18th May he is considered to FAIL his WAP programme assessment (Grade F). The student will not be allowed to take other course/s to replace the WAP.

Announcement of UMAP Scholarship 2009 From Thailand

Below is the extract of the email I got from the UBD International and Public Relations office..

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to inform you of yet another series of scholarships offered by Thailand to UBD as a member of UMAP .

I would be very grateful if you could inform your students of the availability of these Student Exchange opportunities, particularly as they take place during UBD's long vacation. The advertisement for these scholarships will also be put up on the IO Notice Board in front of the UBD Library. Your students can also come in to the IO for more information and explanation.

The UMAP Thailand Scholarships 2009 are initiated to promote student mobility between Thailand and its UMAP counterparts.

Students enrolled in UMAP member universities (of which UBD is one of them) are invited to apply for the UMAP Thailand Scholarships.

75 students from UMAP member universities will be awarded scholarships to attend any one of three four-week exchange programmes at Thai universities in the following courses:

1. Hospitality and Tourism Management Programme (25 students)
2. Immersion into Thai Cultures in Dynamic Contexts Programme (25 students)
3. Integrated International Business and Cross Cultural Programme (25 students)

Each of the four-week courses meets 6 hours a day, 5 days a week during July 13^th August 7^th, 2009 and is designed to provide UMAP Exchange Students with the knowledge and experiences in related fields in the Thai context, and also with the opportunities to understand Thai society, culture and people.

The brochures for the UMAP Thailand Scholarships 2009 and application forms are available from the International (and Public Relations) Office.

All applications must be sent through the UMAP member universities' International Offices, and must therefore be sent to the UBD IO latest by 1st May 2009 so that we can ensure that all the applications reach the UMAP Thailand before 15th May 2009.

Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. All scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis and successful applicants will be notified of their status by 29^th May 2009.

Food Sale Opening Day

Yesterday witnessed the opening day of FSC Food Sale..

We have received tremendous reception from the crowd.. We had to close early as we were sold out! The centre of attraction of the day was probably Amal's ABC.. :) Nice work and good marketing!!

However, the highlight of the day was the VC coming over.. In his suggestion, "venture out! open this to the public" :) InsyaAllah, if we have to capital, we would do it.. ;)

Hey guys!! Dean's Cup 2009 is coming soon..! Hopefully, early April.. Dean's Cup is a FUTSAL Tournament hosted by fellow FBEPS-ians.. It is only opened to undergraduates under FBEPS roof.. Participants will be drawn into a random team.. *except the lecturers team* So, we will have some unknown mates, on the bright side, new friends!! The purpose of this tourney is to let the players establish and tighten the relationships between juniors, seniors as well as the lecturers.. So, sign up for it! It will be fun!

AGM is an event where FBEPS students are able to get together.. Know what will be going on in FBEPS for the rest of the year and what are FSC's plans for CHANGE!

This year, The FSCs will organise different occassions rather than the usuals.. As we know, Former Dean, Dr. Azman, have been replaced.. Then, Our AR has also left us, for FOS.. FSC is back & running, * not quite * because our main office smells! But that doesn't stop us from doing our jobs ;) There will be a meeting next Wednesday for FSC members after 12. Be there! Hehe.

New Look

Hi everyone!

As you can see, our FBEPS blog has a new layout. It's still a work in progress, so not everything is up and running yet. Be patient and bear with us for a few days while we sort everything out =)

One of our plans is to have a FBEPS Classified Ads page, so that anyone who wants to sell their second hand stuff (ie. textbooks, phones, etc) can email us, and we'll put it up on this site.

Do let us know what other things you'd like to see more of on this blog, to make it more useful to everyone. At the same time, it'd be great if you guys could tell us what kind of activities you want the FSC to hold for the upcoming semester. We'll do our best to make it happen.

Yes the moment all of us have been waiting for, second semester results are finally out. I assumed it was out around 11 this morning since a friend rang me up and told me about the news.

So according to the shout box, congratulations to the graduating seniors who scored almost As. All your hard work finally paid off :)

To those who didn't do well, work harder next time around and may you get the results you want. :)

Results can be seen as usual at the Chancellor Hall, UBD because it is not posted online yet.

2008 Dean's Cup

First of all, I do apologize for the lack of updates in the FBEPS's blog. Hopefully by tomorrow this blog will be up and running once again, when I get full information from Mr.Shai and the others.

The 2008 Dean's Cup Champion, OUR LECTURERS with a 1-0 victory over the Blue Team.

I leave you readers out there with a video clip of the semi-final clash between Team White and the Lecturers. Penalty shoot-out.

FBEPS Bowlers

UBD Bowling Club held an open-bowling tournament yesterday at Utama where 12 teams participated. Each team consisting of 4 players. One team in particular, BOWLERS PANCIT UNITED won 5th place in yesterday's tournament. By the looks from their faces, they were shocked!

Let me introduce the team members of Bowlers Pancit United : Faisal, Arif, Daus & Hafiiz. Four bowlers with one aim, GUTTER @ LONGKANG. They were the loudest & most enjoyable team to watch. Other teams was dead serious but not our FBEPS team. =)

Anyway, Congratulations for getting number 5. Top 5. Keep it up you guys.

The draw has been made...

the Dean's Cup futsal tournament's draw took place this afternoon where participants were allocated to their respective teams. it will start on the 22nd of march which is this saturday from 7pm to 10pm. where there will be a get-to-know your team sessions. hopefully, you all can make it. here is the team list as a result of the draw.

Dean's Cup Futsal Tournament

There has been an extension in the closing date for the registration of the Dean's Cup to the 18th of march and the draw would be on the 19th of march. I think the submission of the entry fee would be on the day of the draw itself as all participants are required to be present at Smallville (FBEPS).

Basketball, UBD Cup

The second match of the UBD cup was held on Monday earlier on this week, 25th February 2008.

The first interschool match of the day was between PTE against SMJA. The 40 minutes match later ended up excitingly with the score of 24-26 respectively and SMJA gain their victory of the day.

Then the second interschool match of the day was between Chung Hwa Middle School,Kuala Belait against Sekolah Menengah Berakas. Another exciting match and this time Chung Hwa Middle School performed better then they played in their first match. After 40 minutes of dribbling and laying-up during their match, Chung Hwa Middle School finally gained their victory with a score of 50-21.

UBD team ‘A’ played against MD in 3rd match of the day. MD’s boys played very well but unfortunately UBD team ‘A’ gained victory at the end of another exciting match with score of 44-25.

The final match of the day was between Saint George’s School and Saint Andrew’s School. The 40 minutes exciting match was sure worthwhile watching. Saint George’s School was able to gain one point within the last 5 seconds which lead them to a victory with a score of 32-31.
The third match of the UBD cup will be held this Thursday, 28th February 2008.

FBEPS Dean’s Cup

Dates: 22^nd (get to know your team session), 24^th, 26^th and 29^th of MARCH

Venue: UBD sports complex

Time: 7pm – 10pm

All students majoring and minoring in subjects offered in FBEPS are invited (1^st years to 4^th years) *so students from other faculties can join*

The registeration will commence on monday the 25th of FEBRUARY *the form would be outside the FSC room*

the entrance fee is $6 per person

First & foremost, Sorry for the delay on uploading our pictures. I've been busy lately =)

Anyway, The big event will start soon(16-17th Feb) & we(FBEP-ians) have been very busy lately. Busy coming to Chancellor Hall everyday from 2pm onwards doing some work for the event. Last day tomorrow you guys. From 2pm onwards.

I was shocked(yesterday) when the lecturers came by to help us out. I mean, this is a first. Usually teachers just tell us what to do & all but yesterday was a complete different story. The lecturers actually helped us out. Thank you. I Love my faculty. We get together along very well as ONE huge family.

I just finished uploading our pictures during the dry-run. So, feel free to view/save it. *Bare with me, some of the pictures are blurry & all. I'm not a professional so yeah. Please do forgive me* =)

This is the reason why you SHOULD join our faculty. It may be the smallest faculty in UBD but each individual in it has a BIG heart with a colourful personalities. Do come by our FBEPS booth during the study @ UBD event.
